New York Attorney General Letitia James was indicted October 9, 2025 for alleged bank fraud (18 USC 1344 Count 1) and false statements to a financial institution (18 USC 1014; Count 2), by means of alleged false statements to obtain favorable terms for a mortgage loan on a property in Norfolk, VA. Indictment dismissed without prejudice November 24, 2025 by reason of the unlawful appointment of US Attorney Lindsey Halligan. Government Notice of Appeal filed December 19, 2025.
