The focus of this webinar is the benefits and challenges of including justice impacted individuals in criminal defense spaces. The New Jersey Office of the Public Defender will discuss its successes, lessons, and goals around including those who have experienced the legal system firsthand. Conversation will center the perspectives of people who sit at the intersection of lived experience and criminal legal defense. This discussion is not just about personal redemption stories; it’s about what happens when people most impacted by the system begin shaping and impacting how justice is practiced from the inside.
