You will be joining the program in its start-up phase. This means you will have the ability to shape all of the major elements of the program, and the Fellow experience, from the beginning.

About the Team and the Fourth Amendment Center
This role will work closely with the Director of NACDL’s Fourth Amendment Center. NACDL's Fourth Amendment Center offers direct assistance to defense lawyers handling cases involving new surveillance tools, technologies and tactics that infringe on the constitutional rights of people in America. NACDL’s Fourth Amendment Center is a collaborative team. We appreciate team members who take initiative, ask questions, and act with empathy.
As Fellowship Manager, you will manage the creation of a new fellowship program, with responsibilities including:
In the first 6-9 months:
- Work with the program team to create and maintain a timeline for the Fellowship launch
- Participate in developing criteria for Fellows and Fellow placement options
- Manage the applicant tracking system
- Manage the Fellows selection process, including recruiting and interviewing, with assistance from the program team
- Work with team to create an onboarding and orientation process
- Be the primary liaison to consultants and others working on the program
- Manage the operations and logistics of the program
- Develop website materials supporting the fellowship, including explainers, FAQs, etc.
Long-term:
- Create a pipeline of Fellowship applicants by leveraging existing networks and developing new ones
- Develop ideas for current Fellow enrichment
- Create a plan for alumni engagement
- Capture feedback from fellows on the fellowship experience and make plans for process improvements
- Conduct outreach to engage potential fellows and raise awareness of the program in relevant communities
Attributes and experience you bring to the role
- You enjoy working independently;
- You bring ideas for process creation and improvement to your work;
- You like to build things, and have built or contributed to building a new program of some kind;
- Familiarity with Fellowship models; ideally you have been a fellow or mentor or worked on a Fellowship or mentorship program;
- Some budgeting or reporting experience;
- 4-6 years of nonprofit experience, in an operational or Fellowship role;
- A commitment to the mission of NACDL and the Fourth Amendment Center;
- Familiarity with technology, tech tools, tech policy, or the public interest tech field;
- Experience with or understanding of recruiting, particularly with DEI principles in mind;
- Excellent communications skills;
- Experienced user of Microsoft Suite and Zoom;
- Some knowledge of or familiarity with applicant tracking systems is helpful.

Location
​​NACDL is a hybrid office where some employees continue to work remotely and others work from the office. This position may be based at NACDL’s Washington, D.C. office, conveniently located near downtown Metro stops. Remote work will also be considered.

We have a standard 37.5-hour week. 12 Vacation and 9 Personal days in years 1-2; this goes up to 17 Vacation and 9 Personal days beginning in year 3. Additionally, we observe 12 federal holidays.
