Case Tracker Search
This searchable map visualizes federal criminal prosecutions tracked by NACDL that reflect unusual, novel, or aggressive uses of the criminal law since January 2025. Users can explore cases by jurisdiction to access key charging documents, pleadings, judicial decisions, and case outcomes, supporting comparative analysis and informed defense advocacy nationwide.
The Criminal Case Tracker Map is an interactive tool that allows you to explore where tracked federal prosecutions are occurring and to access available case records. Pins are based on the federal district court in which the prosecution was initiated, not necessarily where the alleged conduct occurred, and only cases identified as unusual or abnormal uses of the criminal law are included.
The map is also color‑coded by federal circuit. Each circuit is represented by a distinct color, making it easier to see regional patterns and trends. You can hover your mouse over a circuit to highlight it and view all tracked cases within that circuit. Clicking on a circuit will select the full circuit region, allowing you to focus on cases within that appellate jurisdiction.
For best results, use the Map together with the Case Tracker’s filters and search tools to narrow results and locate specific types of cases. The Map is updated as new cases are added or existing entries are modified. If you notice missing cases, incorrect locations, or other issues, please contact Monica Milton at mmilton@nacdl.org.
