United States v. Gaffney

This is a "parking" case, where the government detained the defendant on firearms charges brought in D.C. Superior Court, and later, to avoid the application of Superior Court deadlines for speedy trial of a detained defendant, the government brought similar charges in federal court and dismissed the Superior Court charges.
