NACDL webinar held Oct. 16, 2014, featuring Lisa Wayne, criminal defense attorney, Denver, CO; Kara Dansky, Senior Counsel, American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) Center for Justice; Nkechi Taifa, Senior Policy Analyst, Open Society Foundations (OSF); and Ed Burnette, Vice President, Defender Legal Services, National Legal Aid and Defender Association.

The panel examined the historical and systemic issues associated with crime and the response of police to those communities most affected by crime. The panel also addressed solutions policy makers and communities can make to solve these issues on the local, state and federal level.
