NACDL Artificial Intelligence Task Force

NACDL's Artificial Intelligence Task Force examines how AI and emerging technologies are reshaping policing, prosecution, and criminal defense practice. Explore resources to help defense attorneys understand and challenge these technologies.

Artificial intelligence is already embedded in the criminal legal system — in policing, in pretrial risk assessment, in sentencing, and in prisons. So is NACDL's work on it. With the support of the NACDL Foundation for Criminal Justice, NACDL has confronted these technologies through the Fourth Amendment Center, CLE programming, and reports on predictive policing, risk assessment tools, and facial recognition. The Task Force on Artificial Intelligence, created in 2023, studies how they affect criminal defense practice and the clients defense lawyers serve.
