The Benefits Proposition

NYSACDL and NACDL each have a strong member benefits program for you on their own, and the combination is comprehensive.

Networking:  NYSACDL members connect to colleagues throughout New York state through the members-only listserve. NACDL offers a general discussion group plus topical groups on White Collar crime, Women in Criminal Defense, and more. Both networks give members a place to connect, share knowledge, and strategize together for the benefit of all.

Publications: NYSACDL publishes a quarterly magazine, Atticus, while NACDL members receive the Daily Criminal Justice Briefing and The Champion® magazine, published 10 times a year. Both associations promote our members through a free, public, Find-a-Lawyer directory and connect you with other members with our full online members-only directories.

Resources: Both organizations offer excellent defense-focused CLE with no prosecutors allowed, and the breadth of the offerings between the two is stupendous. Both offer recordings and materials from past CLEs for sale, online training, and printed materials specific to the practice of criminal defense.

Advocacy:  NACDL and NYSACDL are strong advocates, through amicus briefs, and directly with legislative bodies in DC and in Albany, protecting the constitutional rights of the accused.  Both also provide a Strike Force, by which they provide legal assistance to member attorneys at no charge when they are threatened with contempt or removal from a case for zealous representation of a client. Your membership and participation strengthen the voices of both organizations.
