Drug Overdose Homicide Resources
In 2022, the Arizona legislature considered HB 2021, which would create the offense of drug trafficking homicide and classify it as a Class 1 felony. The bill reflects a counterproductive effort by a growing number of elected officials, law enforcement agencies, and prosecutors to hold drug distributors criminally responsible for accidental overdose deaths. Fortunately, the bill failed to advance to the House floor.
