The defendant, a physician at the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID and until December 31, 2022, the senior advisor to NIAID Director Anthony Fauci during the period of COVID 19, was Dr. David Morens, a former senior adviser to Dr. Anthony Fauci at the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), was charged with conspiring to intentionally conceal and destroy federal communications to evade Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests regarding COVID-19 origins and research grants.
