United States v. Fortenberry

Defendant, while a member of Congress, received illegal campaign contributions in 2016 as a result of conduit funds contributed by a foreign national. He later learned that the contributions to his campaign were illegal, but rather than reporting the violation as required by law and refunding the illegal funds, he sought to conceal that he had earlier learned that the contributions were illegal and he made false statements to federal investigators about what he knew.
