United States v. Abrego Garcia

A case alleging human smuggling against a Salvadoran man after his highly publicized deportation was deemed illegal. The Court has preliminarily ruled that there is a "realistic likelihood of vindictive prosecution" and held an evidentiary hearing on the motion to dismiss for vindictive prosecution. In a significant decision, the court dismissed the indictment, ruling that the government engaged in a vindictive and selective prosecution in response to his challenging his illegal removal from the United States.
