Biography
Attorney Ron Frey is a Tampa criminal defense lawyer and the founder of The Frey Law Firm, LLC, in downtown Tampa, a short walk from the Hillsborough County Courthouse. A Life Member of NACDL and a member of the Florida Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, he has practiced criminal defense for more than 20 years.
Attorney Frey defends people charged with crimes or under investigation in Hillsborough, Pinellas and Pasco County courts and in federal court, including the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida in Tampa. His practice includes felonies and misdemeanors, federal investigations, target letters and indictments, sex offenses, drug charges, DUI, white collar and fraud allegations, and criminal appeals and postconviction motions, including in Florida's Second District Court of Appeal.
Internet, computer and AI-related crimes have been a focus of his practice since the early 2000s. Through InternetCrime.com, he represents people facing online solicitation and sting cases, child pornography (CSAM) allegations, hacking and Computer Fraud and Abuse Act charges, online fraud, sextortion, and cryptocurrency, deepfake and AI-related investigations. He has taught CLE seminars for defense lawyers nationally on digital evidence and computer forensics, and as an adjunct professor at Ursuline College he taught criminal law, criminal procedure, constitutional law, and computer crimes and evidence.
He is licensed in Florida, North Carolina and Ohio, continues to represent clients in North Carolina and Ohio, and is admitted to the U.S. Supreme Court and the U.S. District Courts for the Middle and Southern Districts of Florida, the Eastern and Western Districts of North Carolina, and the Northern and Southern Districts of Ohio.
