Biography

Michael L. Piccarreta is a partner in the law firm of Piccarreta Davis Keenan Fidel PC.  He is a past president of the State Bar of Arizona. He has served as chair of the State Bar's Criminal Rules Committee and its Criminal Justice Section. Mr. Piccarreta has been selected for inclusion in the Best Lawyers in America for 30 consecutive years and has been selected as Lawyer of the Year in Tucson, Arizona for Criminal Defense multiple times. He is a fellow in the American College of Trial Lawyers and has served as its state chair and also was a fellow in the International Academy of Trial Lawyers. He has served as an adjunct professor at the University of Arizona James E. Rogers College of Law teaching advanced criminal trial practice. Mr. Piccarreta has served as president of the Arizona Attorneys for Criminal Justice and is the recipient of the Pima County Bar Association’s 2010 Robert J. Hooker Criminal Justice Award. He is also the recipient of the 2011 State Bar of Arizona Tom Karas Criminal Justice Award and the 2013 co-recipient Freedom Fund Honoree of the Year for the NAACP Tucson Chapter. He has extensive trial and litigation experience in state and federal courts, and has successfully handled hundreds of criminal matters, including many highly publicized cases.
