His criminal defense practice consists of trial and appellate work instate and federal courts. Born in Mobile, Alabama, Mr. Salterreceived his B.S. degree from Auburn University in 1968. He earnedhis J.D. degree (Summa Cum Laude) from Cumberland School of Law in1971, where he was Law Review Associate Editor.
He served as Assistant U.S. Attorney in the Northern District ofAlabama(1971-76); and Special Assistant United States Attorneyin the District of South Dakota (1974).
He was a member of theU.S. Attorney General’s Atlanta “Satellite Office†of theMiami Strike Force (1976-77).I have lectured for theAttorney General Trial Advocacy Institute in Washington D.C.
I received the Martindale-Hubbell Law Directory highest accolade; an AV rating in 1996. He is a Life Member of the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers and a Fellow in the American Board of Criminal Lawyers.
He is a Member of the Bars of the following: State of Alabama; U.S.Supreme Court; 5th and 11th Circuits Courts of Appeals;and, the United States District Courts for the Northern, Middle, and Southern Districts of Alabama.
I have appeared in United States District Courts for the Eastern and Western Districts of Louisiana, Arizona, Middle and Southern Districts of Florida, Middle and Eastern Districts of Tennessee, Northern District of Georgia, Southern District of Ohio, and Southern District of West Virginia; and various State Courts outside the State of Alabama.
