2018 Public Defense Training: Advanced Skills in Sexual Assault Defense

Advanced Skills in Sexual Assault Defense Training
March 8-9, 2018

This program is designed to provide attendees with advanced skills for defending sexual assault cases. Attendees will be taught about DNA science, how to persuasively present these cases to judges and juries, how to obtain expert witnesses, and methods for properly challenging the evidence that is commonly presented in sexual assault cases. Additionally, there will be a presentation on the ethical issues that often arise when representing clients accused of committing sexual offenses. At the end of each day, attorneys will be placed in small groups to practice what they have learned by taking turns cross examining difficult witnesses and using their own cases to moot voir dire issues.

Attendees can register for one, two, or all three days of the training. About two weeks prior to the commencement of the program, registrants will receive an email permitting them to sign up for small group workshops. Due to space limitations, if you register and find that you are unable to attend please notify us of your change in plans by emailing us at pdtraining@nacdl.org. If you have any questions or comments, please contact us at pdtraining@nacdl.org.

*This training is limited to public defenders and counsel taking court appointed cases.*
