NACDL News: NACDL Receives Outstanding Alliance Award from U.S. Chamber Institute for Legal Reform

The U.S. Chamber Institute for Legal Reform (ILR) presented NACDL with the Outstanding Alliance Award at its 17th Annual Legal Reform Summit on October 26, 2016, in recognition of the Association’s “important contributions to the fight for criminal justice reform.”

ILR President Lisa A. Rickard presented the award to NACDL Executive Director Norman L. Reimer, who accepted it on behalf of the Association. In presenting the award, Ms. Rickard pointed to NACDL as an “outstanding partner to the Institute for Legal Reform,” adding that the groups have worked “hand in hand on issues of mutual concern, including criminal intent, criminal discovery, and accountability for prosecutors who go too far.”

Ms. Rickard also pointed to a day-long symposium this past May held jointly by ILR and NACDL to draw attention to the overcriminalization of American business. That symposium was entitled “T
