WACDL Annual Honors Announced
The Washington Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers (WACDL) recently announced the recipients of its annual honors.Tacoma attorney Mary Kay High received the William O. Douglas Award — WACDL’s most esteemed award, which is given to recognize “a pattern of extraordinary achievement, courage, and dedication in the practice of criminal law.” Robert Leen and George Bianchi each received the President’s Award in recognition of achievement in a particular case or series of related cases, or long-time service to the criminal defense bar. Brendan Kiley, a journalist, received the WACDL Champion of Justice Award in recognition of his articles in The Stranger that highlighted injustices in the criminal justice system.
