Jessica DaSilva

Resource Counsel

Jessica DaSilva is NACDL’s Resource Counsel. Jessie connects attorneys across the country with resource materials, support, and training to successfully litigate cases involving forensic evidence, post-conviction innocence claims, immigration issues, representing juveniles in adult court, and a variety of other topics. Additionally, Jessie assists in organizing nationwide trainings for defense lawyers, prosecutors, and law enforcement on the latest techniques for cases involving forensic evidence.

Before joining the NACDL team, Jessie worked at Bloomberg Law as a criminal justice reporter. At Bloomberg, she wrote more than 200 news articles on a wide array of topics, including U.S. Supreme Court cases, criminal justice reform policy, legislative trends on crime and law practice, and high-profile murder cases. She’s appeared on Bloomberg Radio and National Public Radio affiliate stations. Before that, she worked in criminal appeals for the State of Florida, regularly appearing before the Florida First District Court of Appeals in felony and misdemeanor cases.

Jessie graduated Florida Coastal School of Law, where she became a national moot court champion for her 2012 win in Capital Law School’s National Competition on Child Welfare and Adoption Law. She received a bachelor of science in online journalism from the University of Florida and was awarded the H.G. “Buddy” Davis Award for Most Promising Young Journalist in 2009. While at the University of Florida, she served as the editor-in-chief of The Independent Florida Alligator, billed as the largest student-run newspaper in the country and live-blogged the 2008 vice presidential debates for The New York Times’ The Caucus blog. She also interned at Roll Call Newspaper, The Tampa Tribune (now defunct), and for Sen. Bill Nelson (D-Fla.).

Jessie also earned her associate of art’s degree from Indian River State University before graduating high school.
