NACDL's 2017 Fall Meeting & Seminar,"Wicked Good Defenses for Common Street Crimes" will be held at the Westin Copley Place Hotel in Boston, MA, October 25-28, 2017.
The Boston Common and the streets of the great city surrounding it have served as a stage where this country’s struggles have played out. Like John Adams defending the British soldiers, defending unpopular clients accused of common street crimes requires extraordinary zealousness. Brawling, burgling and bawdy houses - the crimes may be common but the defenses still need to be “wicked good!”
The epicenter of civic life since the city's founding, the Common hosted the Gallows where Quakers swung as victims of religious intolerance and served as one of the earliest muster points for the Revolutionary Army and, a hundred years later, for the first black regiment of the Civil War. More recently, the 50 acres of communal space across from Beacon Hill has been the site of protests, performing arts, religious expression and civic demonstration. Boston's streets and neighborhoods sprawl out from that center where, like the British soldiers accused of opening fire on the resistant colonists, the drama of our clients’ lives often play out to devastating consequences.
From the streets to the courtroom - join your nationwide NACDL colleagues in Boston to learn the best defense techniques for the most common crimes from today’s leading criminal defense practitioners.
