Alexandra Funk

Public Affairs and Communications Assistant

Alexandra Funk serves as a Public Affairs and Communications Assistant at NACDL, and assists in the drafting, editing, and strategic dissemination of various print and online content including news releases, letters to the editor, columns, and opinion pieces. She also shares responsibility for managing NACDL’s social media presence and assists in the preparation of the Daily Criminal Justice Briefing, NACDL’s “The Criminal Docket” podcast series, and all other internal and external communications platforms. Further, Alexandra focuses on providing robust support to the Public Defense Department and NACDL’s allied organizations on issues concerning public defense.

Prior to joining NACDL, Alexandra interned with Human Rights First focusing on foreign policy, the UK House of Commons, and Congressman John Yarmuth’s constituency office (KY-03). She graduated in 2016 with an MSc in Human Rights with Distinction from the London School of Economics and Political Science, where her research took a sociological approach to terrorism in order to investigate the human rights violations experienced by Muslims in the U.S. post-9/11. She also holds a BA in Philosophy and Political Science with an Economics minor from the University of Louisville.
