Confronting the Mob Mentality: Defending Sex Cases

CLE Credit Hours: Up to 12 CLE credits

Program Summary: Defending sexual assault cases is often daunting. This DVD program will enlighten you to the best strategies for defending clients accused of sexual assault. Topics range from investigation (including the latest on computer technology), challenging child interview techniques, jury selection, developing theories and themes all the way through acquittal or sentencing. And, if you're faced with defending allegations of child pornography, this program will provide an overview to help you know where to start and how to effectively cross a child witness. In the event your client has been convicted, it will address how defense counsel, in handling a federal sentencing, particularly in child pornography cases, can avoid common mistakes which frequently result in the defendant receiving a longer sentence than he would otherwise receive. It will demonstrate how the twenty-one year history of the child pornography sentencing practice has created an artificially enhanced sentencing guideline, and will provide practitioners source materials which they can readily use to obtain lower sentences for their clients in federal court. Some of the best litigators and communicators in the country will show you how to avoid or minimize the impact of the mob mentality you will inevitably face when representing a client charged with these harsh accusations.
