Election Committee Opinion

June 27, 2014

The Elections Committee received a question as to whether it would be prohibited under NACDL’s Standing Board Policy on Elections to contact individual NACDL members that a candidate personally knows, inform the member that there is an election and that the person contacting them is a candidate, and to encourage the member to review election-related communications and to vote. The committee’s opinion is that this would be prohibited under the Standing Board Policy on Elections (available at http://www.nacdl.org/about/governance/electioncenter/standingboardpolicy/).

Per the standing board policy, this memo was sent to each candidate and posted on NACDL’s Election website.
