Huggins and Williams elected to Council of Affiliates
Thanks to all the Affiliate representatives who participated in this
year’s Affiliate election to fill two seats on the NACDL Board of
Directors and the Council of Affiliates. The results of the 2003-2004
election concluded that Bret H. Huggins of the Arizona Attorneys for
Criminal Justice and Christie N. Williams of the Dallas Criminal Defense
Lawyers Association will fill the vacancies. Huggins and Williams are
the first Affiliate Board members elected to a full 3-year term-similar
to the other Board seats. We welcome them to the NACDL leadership.
MTACDL petitions detention of enemy combatants
A Montana Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers representative
recently met with Congressman Denny Rehberg in Missoula, presenting him
with a position paper and a petition protesting the detention of United
States citizens as “enemy combatants.” MTACDL had previously contacted
