Amy Seidman, a long-time NACDL member, passed away on Monday, June 23,
2003 at the age of 49, at her home in East Dover, Vermont. Her husband,
Vince, was by her side. She valiantly battled leiomyosarcoma, a rare
form of cancer — but the disease did not keep her away from being with
her NACDL friends as recently as our seminar in New York City in May.
Amy was loved by all her friends in the NACDL family, and she was
respected for her commitment to her indigent clients. For many years,
Amy regularly attended NACDL seminars both for what she could learn, but
just as importantly, like most of us, to stay in touch with her many
colleagues. Several of her friends have now come together — along with
Amy’s family — to establish the Amy Seidman Memorial Scholarship Fund, which will enable lawyers with financial hardships to attend NACDL’s Annual Meeting.
The fund will be administered by the Foundation for Criminal Justice,
the independent non-profit charitable organiza
