Congressmen, actors join stars of defense bar to make New York spring meeting a success
Well-known actors, two Congressmen, and one of the best CLE programs in
recent history helped make the NACDL spring meeting in New York a
memorable one for nearly 500 defense lawyers, the largest spring meeting
turnout ever.
At the Friday luncheon (May 2), NACDL presented its Champion of Justice award to the writers, director, and lead producer of The Exonerated,
the hit off-Broadway play which depicts the stories of six innocent
persons released after spending between two and 20 years in prison for
crimes they did not commit. The awards were followed by performances of
excerpts from the play by actors Marlo Thomas (That Girl) and William Jay Marshall (Billy Bathgate, The Fisher King).
