WACDL Honors Three at Annual Awards Dinner
By Gerald Lippert
The Washington Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers (WACDL) recently
held its annual dinner in Chelan, Wash., where it presented its most
prestigious annual awards. In recognition of her tireless advocacy on
behalf of those accused of heinous crimes through her work on the House
Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness Committee, WACDL presented
Washington State Rep. Sherry Appleton with its Champion of Justice
Award. Additionally, Seattle lawyer Gilbert Levy received the
President’s Award in recognition of outstanding service to the criminal
defense bar in a particular case or series of cases, and Jeffrey Ellis
received the William O. Douglas Award, WACDL’s most prestigious honor,
given in recognition of extraordinary courage and dedication to the
practice of criminal law. For more information, please contact Fred Rice
