Protecting Justice: Heeney Award Winner Ellen S. Podgor

Professor Ellen S. Podgor said she was “surprised and truly overwhelmed”
when she won the Heeney Award in August 2010 at NACDL’s Annual Meeting
in Toronto. The loud, sustained applause that greeted her as she
accepted the award was a testament to the respect she has earned from
NACDL members.
The Robert C. Heeney Memorial Award, named in honor of NACDL’s 18th
president, is given annually to the criminal defense attorney who best
exemplifies the goals and values of the Association.
NACDL Past President Cynthia Hujar Orr presented the award, pointing out
that Podgor is an internationally respected white collar crime expert.
Podgor is the author of numerous books and more than 50 articles and
essays on topics including computer crime, international criminal law,
prosecutorial discretion, and ethics.
