GACDL Honors Jim Bonner
The Georgia Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers (GACDL) recently honored Jim Bonner with its 2005 Indigent Defense Award for his exceptional commitment to indigent defense, tireless efforts to protect the rights of the accused, and support and guidance to his peers. Bonner is the Director of the Georgia Public Defender Standards Council’s Appellate Advocacy Division and serves on the boards of the ACLU of Georgia and the Georgia Innocence Project. He began his legal work in Emory Law School’s defunct Legal Assistance for Inmates Program and continued for more than twenty years as a staff attorney for the Prisoner’s Legal Counseling Project at the University of Georgia until funding stopped in the mid-1990s. For more information, please contact GACDL Executive Director Jennifer Carter at 404-248-1777 or e-mail jenncarter@mindspring.com.
