Earlier this month NACDL launched the Minority Law Fellows Program. The program allows talented law students to spend eight weeks working and actively interning under the supervision of experienced criminal defense attorneys in an assigned criminal defense law office. They are also invited to participate in NACDL events and networking opportunities throughout the summer. This year, one fellow was placed with each of the following: Rick Jones of Neighborhood Defender Services of Harlem; Geneva Vanderhorst of Washington, D.C.; and Brandi Harden and Heather Pinckney of Harden & Pinckney LLP of Washington, D.C.

NACDL and its Diversity Task Force developed the fellowship program, which was made possible by a grant from the Foundation for Criminal Justice. The purpose of the program is to increase diversity in the criminal defense bar by giving underrepresented populations an opportunity to gain experience in criminal defense.
