Longtime NACDL Member Cheryl Krause Confirmed by Senate to U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit
Washington, DC (July 9, 2014) – Philadelphia-based attorney Cheryl Krause was unanimously confirmed by the Senate to the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit on Monday. She had been nominated by President Barack Obama in February. Ms. Krause, who was most recently a partner at the law firm Dechert LLP, was a member of the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers (NACDL) from 2003, and served on the Association’s White Collar Crime Committee. Earlier in her career, Ms. Krause served as an Assistant U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York and taught at the University of Pennsylvania, Stanford and Columbia Law Schools. Krause was also a clerk to the Honorable Anthony M. Kennedy of the Supreme Court of the United States.
"While NACDL does not take positions on judicial contests or appointments, the Association and its members are extremely proud of Cheryl Krause," said NACDL President Jerry J. Cox. "Throughout her career, Ms. Krause has demonstrated extreme dedication to her clients, the many communities she's served, the students she has taught, and the legal professional as a whole. She has been committed to the Constitution and the principles of justice, liberty and due process that are at the core of the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers' mission, and indeed that of the entire bar's. On behalf of NACDL, I congratulate Cheryl on this outstanding achievement."
