Bo Edwards Elected Defense Bar Secretary

Denver, CO, Aug. 8, 1998 -- Prominent Nashville attorney E.E. (Bo) Edwards will be sworn in as 1997-1998 Secretary of the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers at the Association's Annual Meeting here today at the Westin Hotel.

A co-chair of NACDL's Forfeiture Abuse Task Force, Bo Edwards has argued before the U.S. Supreme Court and testified before Congress in favor of reforming America's unfair forfeiture laws, particularly as they apply to innocent property owners. He litigated the highly-publicized Willie Jones case, which was featured on 60 Minutes in 1992, finally winning back the $9000 DEA agents seized from Mr. Jones without probable cause as he prepared to board an airline flight.

Bo served as an assistant District Attorney in Nashville prior to entering private practice in 1973, and is also a co-founder and past president of the Tennessee Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers and a former Director of the NACDL. He graduated with honors from the University of North Carolina in 1965 and received his law degree from Vanderbilt in 1971, and served on the staff of U.S. Senator Albert Gore Sr.
