In the late 1999s, the United States regularly saw close to 300 death sentence per year. NACDL's “Making the Case for Life: Mitigation in Capital Cases” Seminar was founded in response to those horrific figures as a way to help drive down -- eventually to zero -- death penalty verdicts. This seminar has helped achieve remarkable results: There were fewer death sentences in the country last year (less than 80) than any year since the post-Gregg re-enactment of death penalty statutes forty year ago.
The 17th Annual Making the Case for Life Seminar provides attorneys, mitigation specialists, and investigators with the themes and practical tools to save their clients' lives. The outstanding faculty include highly successful capital defense lawyers and mitigation specialists, joined by the top mental health experts in the field. The seminar thematically teaches about creative and cutting-edge ways to interact with clients, loved ones, victim family members, prosecutors, and judges to steer "the worst case in the world" to a life penalty. If you are handling or may handle a case in which your client is facing the death penalty, then this seminar is for you.
NACDL is an accredited provider of CLE in all states requiring mandatory CLE Training. NACDL will apply for at least 12 general credit hours in every state requiring pre-approval. Approved hours for each state will be identified at the seminar. Some states, IL, GA, NC, NE, PA, TX and UT require additional fees by the attendee in order to receive credit.
