NACDL's 5th Annual Sex Crimes Conference, "Zealous Advocacy in Sexual Assault & Child Victims Cases" will be held at Planet Hollywood Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas, November 20-21, 2014. Attend this one-of-a-kind NACDL seminar and leave with a better understanding of sex crimes cases in order to effectively represent your clients before, during, and after trial.
SUMMARY: The government has the power and resources to employ the full machinery of the state to scrutinize our clients: forensic computer analysis, DNA, forensic interviews of children, sexual assault exams, risk evaluations, and seemingly endless investigative techniques.
Now is the time to equip our arsenals and fight back. When it comes to representing a client accused of sexual misconduct, we need to know their methods inside out and fine tune our own preparation and trial skills to be successful at defending or mitigating these challenging charges—while giving particular consideration to wide-spread and ill-informed public fears.
This seminar will address cutting-edge topics including file-sharing child pornography cases, DNA evidence, understanding adolescent complainants, uncovering suggestiveness in child interviews and child sexploitation cases, and representing female defendants. It will provide effective strategies for addressing key parts of the trial such as the SANE exam, cross-examination of the complainant, and voir dire. You will also learn about new investigative techniques, collateral consequences of a conviction, how to prepare your clients for trial, probation, and prison, and, how to maintain your own sanity and stress levels when representing a client accused of a sex offense.
Whether you’re a high roller, foodie, low-key lounger, or a fan of extraordinary live stage shows, Las Vegas has something to suit everyone’s individual tastes.
Try your luck at one of the world’s premier casinos, not in the courtroom— join your NACDL colleagues at a top destination in Las Vegas—Planet Hollywood Hotel—to prepare yourself for your next trial.
NACDL is an accredited provider of CLE in all states requiring mandatory CLE Training. NACDL will apply for at least 12 general credit hours in every state requiring pre-approval. Approved hours for each state will be identified at the seminar. Some states, IL, GA, NC, NE, PA, TX and UT require additional fees by the attendee in order to receive credit.
