AKACDL Elects Gardner
The Alaska Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers (AKACDL) elected Darrel J. Gardner as its president for 2014. Gardner is a founding member of AKACDL, and has served as a director. He recently left private practice to return to public service as an assistant federal defender for the District of Alaska. AACJ Amicus Helps Defense Win Three in AZ Supreme Court
Arizona Attorneys for Criminal Justice (AACJ) filed amicus curiae briefs in several recent criminal cases before the Arizona Supreme Court. In a four-week period, the defense bar, with the help of AACJ, has had unprecedented success with the state’s high court in discretionary review cases in early 2014. In Sanchez v. Ainley, the court rejected the government’s attempt to find a loophole in the rule providing for pretrial challenges
